I like using the TMC 103BL hooks for thin patterns. I also like using Roman Moser Shock Gum Loops when using these more fragile hooks and just generally too. They add about a Lb. of strength to the tippet material being used and lessen the straightening of said hooks on larger Trout that take the fly in heavy water…these are the shock gum loops:

This is a pattern from South African tier Gary Glen-Young. He spent a lot of time developing it and I have no doubt a lot of Eastern Sierra (and Montana) Trout will gobble this fly. LEGS: Fluoro Fiber, Brown – 8-10 strands each side (* I tie this in as a group , pull over the thorax and split…pull back to either side and wrap a couple of turns of thread. Then I pull the tinsel over and whip finish. I then add a coat of Hard As Hull to the top of the tinsel for durability)

DIPHETOR hageni would be this guy. Formerly known as Baetis pervus, this little Baetis is the Brown one on the Lower Owens River that is seen in the Fall and Spring. The nymph poses HERE…not a bad idea to have some of these in the fly box… Mat DH BAETIS

A Joel Silverman pattern/variant similar to Trina’s Bubbleback Emerger…I am kinda’ partial to using black materials for the wingcase on most of the May Fly Emerger patterns I tie…mostly because May Fly Emergers and nymphs, that are active in the drift, have dark wingcases. Marc Petitjean offers some of the best hand selected CDC that is available in the U.S. I get mine at that place behind the Orange CurtainMat CDC BUBBLEBACK BAT-1-
