This box of patterns will include foam fly patterns for use in Montana. Michael came in from NYC on Sunday for Mom’s Day and work here in Los Angeles. We are currently re-thinking our trip up to Montana for September, instead of July, when it is less crowded and easier to get around Yellowstone National Park. Michael and Aimee now want to spend a week or so, before September, up in the Virginia Lakes area (Bridgeport,CA -and one hopes that the record snowfall finally melts) camping, fishing the lakes and the East Walker River. Several of the patterns in this box will reflect that later date…There are thirteen patterns in this box. I am a bit late getting this posted due to a kindergarten graduation and a day at the beach with my Grandson Miles… 🙂

This is a John Kreft pattern from RiverKeeper Flies. I have taken some artistic license with it . His tie is an excellent fly for Cutthroat trout. Take some time to peruse a lot of John’s other patterns. Most, if not all, will produce Montana Trout almost anywhere in that state…

This is a general foam attractor pattern. Michael and I first started using these kind of patterns on the Stillwater River in Montana in 2004. A fellow that was getting ready to float the river, just below Buffalo Jump, gave Michael a handful of foam attractor patterns and he proceeded to have a ball with them…here he is using one of them:
