Posts Tagged ‘Madison River Caddis Patterns’

This post  includes additional Caddis Cripples, Emergers and Adults to fill up the slots in this Wheatley Fly Box. There are a good number of these patterns done in Gray because it is a color that works well in the Eastern Sierras and in other locations as well…like here, where Michael is fishing on the Stillwater River in Montana…

I  have put together some  Caddis – emergers, cripples and dries  – in the following series. They imitate genus Hydropsyche , which is prevalent throughout North America…In the Eastern Sierras, they are present from May through the beginning of October. Good populations are found in the East Walker River, Upper and Lower Owens River, Hot Creek and in  a number of freestone creeks along the Eastern Slope…In most of those locations, they tend to be sizes #16 – #18…and Olive, Olive/Green, Brown, Yellow/Tan or Tan – in color…The other empty spaces will be filled in the next post…and YES, they will also be more Caddis…
